Peter Okoye Says Late Mother Embraced Wife Lola, Accuses Paul of Breaking Childhood Naming Pact

Peter Okoye says his late mother embraced his wife, Lola, and has accused his twin brother, Paul Okoye, of breaking a childhood naming pact, in the latest installment of his ongoing tell-all video series about the family.

In part 8B of the series, Peter said their mother referred to Lola as “our wife” even before his marriage to her, and credited Lola with being supportive during their mother’s hospital admission in Lagos prior to her death.

He also expressed disappointment over what he described as Paul’s failure to honour a childhood agreement in which the brothers had promised to name their first sons after each other using their Igbo names. According to Peter, he kept his end of the arrangement by naming his first son Nonso in Paul’s honor, but Paul instead refused to name his own first son Obuneme, refusing to  honour the the pact.

Wedding Day Grievances

Peter also revisited long-standing tension surrounding his wedding to Lola, alleging that their eldest brother, Jude Okoye, who also served as the group’s manager, did not attend the ceremony. He claimed Jude instead booked a P-Square show in Ghana for the day before the wedding, and that he had to go through his own wedding without properly grooming himself as a result.

Peter further alleged that on the day of the wedding, Jude shared a photo of himself in a studio session with music industry figures including D’Banj and Don Jazzy, and reportedly made an online comment suggesting their mother would never have approved of the union to Lola had she been alive — a claim that stands in contrast to Peter’s own account of his mother’s warmth toward Lola. Peter noted that while several individuals pictured with Jude in that studio photo later attended his wedding, Jude himself did not.

He also claimed that when Jude got married to Ify, neither he nor Lola received aso-ebi attire, which he interpreted as a sign they were not invited. Peter said he responded in kind by posting a photo of himself socializing with friends at home during Jude’s wedding.

According to Peter, Paul confronted him days after Jude’s wedding, insisting that Jude, as their elder brother, deserved respect. Peter said he countered by pointing out that Lola was older than Jude and therefore equally deserving of respect, a response he said angered both Paul and Jude.

More to Come

Peter indicated that this installment would be the last in the current series, but noted he plans to address a more recent video from Jude denying allegations that he defrauded him.
