Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, fondly known as RMD, has given fans a glimpse into his romantic side, revealing that he handed his wife, Jumobi, the very first ₦100 million cheque he ever earned.
The 65-year-old screen icon made the revelation during a recent appearance on The Morayo Show, an interview that quickly went viral online after clips began circulating on Wednesday. In the candid conversation, RMD described himself as an “incurable romantic” who believes gift-giving is the clearest way to express love to his wife especially now that, in his words, flowers and chocolates no longer cut it the way they used to.
According to the actor, the milestone moment came when he received his first-ever ₦100 million cheque. Rather than keeping it or setting it aside for the family, he instructed his manager to hand the cheque straight to Jumobi. When she asked whether he wanted her to save it for their children instead, RMD said he was firm: the money was hers to keep and spend however she wished.
He explained that his generosity comes with a practical understanding of family life — admitting he already expects that most of any money given to his wife will eventually be spent on their children anyway. Still, RMD said he takes pride in ensuring his wife never has to ask for the essentials, noting that everything valuable in their home was provided by him.
RMD and Jumobi, a former television presenter, tied the knot in 2000 — four years after the actor lost his first wife, May Ellen Ezekiel. The couple marked 25 years of marriage in December 2025. RMD is a father of four: two children from his first marriage, and two from his current union with Jumobi.
