TikTok star clears the air days after her white wedding to fellow content creator Peller, insisting the haircut was a styling decision, not a cultural ritual.
Lagos — Nigerian TikTok personality Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, widely known online as Jarvis, has publicly debunked rumours suggesting she shaved her hair as part of tribal marriage rites ahead of her wedding, clarifying that the decision was made at the recommendation of her hairstylist.
Speaking in a video broadcast shared with her followers, Jarvis addressed speculation that had circulated online in the days following her wedding, dismissing claims that the haircut carried any cultural or ritualistic significance.
“I Barbed My Hair for My Hair Installation”
“The wedding is finally over and I’m super happy. I’m proud of myself and my husband,” Jarvis said in the video. Addressing the rumours directly, she added: “For those of you speculating that I barbed my hair for my wedding as part of some tribal marriage rites, shut up.”
She went on to explain the practical reasoning behind her decision: “I barbed my hair because I wanted my hair installation to be perfect. That is what my hair stylist recommended because I have very stubborn hair. Most of my hair, like my frontal, has not been sitting pretty because of my front hair.”
Her comments put to rest online speculation that had framed the haircut as tied to traditional marriage customs, with Jarvis instead attributing it to a straightforward styling choice ahead of her big day.
A Wedding Watched Closely Online
Jarvis and fellow TikTok star Peller (Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja) tied the knot traditionally on August 1, 2026, before holding their white wedding on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The couple, who have built one of Nigerian social media’s most closely followed relationships since meeting on a TikTok livestream in 2023, drew significant online attention throughout their wedding proceedings — from their bridal shower to the ceremony itself.
Their union has not been without public scrutiny. In the lead-up to the wedding, the couple faced commentary and criticism from segments of the online community regarding the timing and nature of their relationship, to which both Jarvis and Peller have previously responded directly, urging critics to focus on their own lives.
Clearing the Air
With the wedding now concluded, Jarvis’s latest clarification appears aimed at closing out one of the more persistent rumours trailing the couple’s high-profile union, reaffirming that her styling choices were guided by practical hair care considerations rather than cultural obligation.
Neither Jarvis nor Peller has indicated any further public commentary is planned on the matter as of this report.
